Your business plan is very important! It is the map for your business. Whenever you are at a crossroads, you should refer back to the business plan and see if what you are contemplating will fit into that plan. That is how I advise my community about purchases of big ticket products, at the risk of lowering my commissions, that they should only get a product if it fits in their budget and business plan.

I want my community to be around a long time.

Good post. Also remember that directory sites like the one in my name will help you spread the word about your business an give a chance for customers to rate your performance online. This gives you the chance to improve your service and in turn improve the customers experience. This then gives you higher ratings and more business.
Hopefully an endless cycle of increasing traffic!

I liked your mention about treating customers like royalty. Every business should strive to be as professional as possible and having great customer service is a big part of this.
